We have recently received calls from clients and those searching for rentals on well known, reputable websites such as Craigslist.com, Zillow.com or Trulia.com. 

They have informed us, that some companies advertising on these sites are charging upfront fees for a list of properties that are supposedly available. Not all, but unfortunately many, of these companies have been scamming clients out of their hard earned money. Many have recently told us they have been scammed out of hundreds of dollars. We have been told these companies charged their credit cards repeatedly and have either provided no information or outdated information or erroneous information and either refuse or continuously delay any refund requests. 

Some companies we have heard are even going so far as to impersonate landlords and owners and to offer Deeds to clients on "Distressed" properties claiming they can buy the property with little money down and no credit checks.

 We highly suggest before doing business with any real estate company that you check their license status at the Bureau Of Real Estate. Use due diligence and be very wary of any company that claims to be a "Prepaid Rental Listing Service Company" or any company that charges any "Upfront Fees" outside of credit reports or background check fees.
